Cristina Biaggi’s Books
Cristina Biaggi has written and edited three books.
The Rule of Mars: Readings on the Origins, History and Impact of Patriarchy is an “eclectic and fascinating collection of 32 essays [that] revolves around the topic of patriarchy, including its origins, diverse cultural manifestations, nefarious effects, and eventual demise.” (Choice Magazine). Dr. Biaggi assembled these important and provocative essays by internationally renowned scholars, historians and philosophers. The book, published in 2006, is the basis of her most popular lectures.
Habitations of the Great Goddess is Dr. Biaggi’s classic study of the tombs, temples and art built to honor the Great Goddess of Neolithic Malta (4000-2500 BCE) and the Orkney and Shetland islands (3000-1500 BCE) off the coast of Scotland. Revered archaeologist Marija Gimbutas commended Dr. Biaggi for “offer[ing] much to the decipherment of the ways in which the Goddess was worshiped and what powers She possessed over life, death and regeneration."
In the Footsteps of the Goddess is a powerful collection of deeply personal writings by women and men about their experiences with the female divine. Pulitzer Prize winning author Jared Diamond found the stories “intense, heartfelt, moving, and profound.” NPR's Margot Adler enjoyed “eavesdrop[ping] as the contributors recount their poetic, illuminating, and deeply moving stories of meeting the Goddess."
